Trips for Kids Boulder to Host Launch Party to Help Raise Funds for

Disadvantaged Youth

TFKB to connect underserved youth to cycling and the outdoors

Boulder, CO (Vocus) March 29, 2010 -- Trips for Kids Boulder (TFKB) will kick-off its activities by hosting a launch party on April 10th from 6 pm to 10 pm at Boulder Indoor Cycling located at 3550 Frontier Ave.

TFKB’s launch event will raise funds to establish the organization’s programs that are designed to connect

underserved youth with the environment and to the sport of mountain biking.

The evening will be emceed by former Denver Bronco, television personality, and cyclist Reggie Rivers. It will also include students from Casey Middle School’s Bike Club, a TFKB partner, who will demonstrate a high-speed exhibition of their cycling skills on the velodrome track. The event will culminate with a bike trick and acrobatics performance by nationally known RipStoke, which was recently featured on NBC’s Today Show. Attendees will also enjoy dinner and adult beverages, along with a silent auction to help raise money for the cause.

“For many locals, life in Boulder is defined by its natural beauty and recreation in near-by open spaces,” said Andy Brannon, TFK Program Director. “Unfortunately, many children in and around Boulder do not have the means to access the outdoors and develop personal connections with the natural world.  A mountain bike ride is a fun, physically challenging way to make this connection and we are looking forward to sharing our passion for the outdoors with underserved youth.”

Trips for Kids Boulder Launch Party tickets are available for $50 at www.tripsforkidsdenver.org. All proceeds from the event will be used cover program start-up expenses: bikes, helmets, transportation, staff, etc.  TFKB’s goal is to reach 200 to 300 novice youth cyclists in 2010, 300 to 400 youngsters next year and, eventually, like it’s parent organization Trips for Kids Denver, provide fun, positive, cycling-based programming to over 700 underserved youth each year.
